ACC Interschool Athletics Carnival
At the conclusion of our House Carnival, we go into full swing preparing the interschool teams for a very hectic day of competition. With participation in the Associated and Catholic Colleges (ACC) Carnivals comes a very demanding schedule of events, particularly for smaller schools that have students in many events across the day. Armed with a Team of around 90 students, Rehoboth descended on the WA Athletics Stadium to take on some old rivals as well as some new ones.
The competition was fierce but out athletes rose to the challenge. Sitting close to the top of the leaderboard all day, and with some strong representation in the final relay events of the day, it looked as if we would be close. Alas, when all the counting was done, Court Grammar School just pipped us at the post and Rehoboth was awarded carnival Runner-Up (later to be edged down to third by Thornlie Christian College after some points recounting).
Whilst all our students competed hard, special mention goes to those athletes that were particularly outstanding on the day:
Student | Award |
---|---|
Toris Moss | Female Open Champion |
Ify Okiwelu | Male U15 Champion |
Chinonso Okiwelu | Female U13 Champion |
Jean-Jack Sayon | Male U14 Runner-Up |
Furthermore, Tori achieved the outstanding feat of qualifying in the ACC ALL-STAR Team which recognises the top two performers across all 90 schools once the results from all nine ACC carnivals had been compiled. And Tori didn’t just qualify in one event, but three: 100m, 400m and Long Jump. Well done, Tori!
