Year 3 Adventures in Science and Wonder

Year 3 Adventures in Science and Wonder

When Mr van der Kooij joined us in class, you could see the excitement on everyone’s faces! He took us on a tour around the school grounds, explaining how God entrusted us with taking care of all living things right from the start of creation.

In our Science and Christian Studies classes, we’ve been on an amazing journey uncovering the marvels of God’s creation! Can you imagine the excitement of discovering all the living things God made with such care and purpose?

In Science, we have dived deep into God’s incredible design of living things, especially focusing on plants. To make our learning more meaningful and hands on, we decided to plant our very own beans as a fun experiment. Our Year 3s were buzzing with excitement! Some even gave their beans cute names. Everyone had two beans each and we popped them into zip lock bags with a soaked paper towel, to start the germination process.

Every morning, as soon as they stepped into the classroom, student would rush to the window to check on their beans. Will it sprout today? It was like waiting for a tiny miracle! Every week, they’d eagerly jot down the growth of their bean stems in their special bean diaries.

Throughout our Science adventures, our Year 3 buddies were bursting with curiosity about God’s creations, including us humans, who are also part of this amazing living world. They had so many questions! Luckily, we had a special guest, Mr van der Kooij, our school’s awesome groundskeeper, who shared his wisdom with us.

When Mr van der Kooij joined us in class, you could see the excitement on everyone’s faces! He took us on a tour around the school grounds, explaining how God entrusted us with taking care of all living things right from the start of creation. We were particularly fascinated by the device Mr van der Kooij was holding. Many thought it was a walkie talkie or telephone, but it turned out to be the remote that controls the school’s reticulation systems for watering our school’s greenery. Mr van der Kooij even turned on the sprinklers and you bet the students loved it.

We’re super grateful to Mr van der Kooij for spending time with us and making our learning journey extra special. It’s moments like these that make our Year 3 adventures unforgettable!
