Our Faith

Rehoboth exists as an extension of the Christian home, providing a way for parents to fulfil their God-given responsibility to educate their children and raise them in the ways of the Lord. We encourage a Biblical worldview and recognise the centrality of the church in the life of the Christian community, and its place in the College’s history and culture.

Rehoboth is founded upon the truths God has revealed to us in His Word, the Bible, which comprises both the Old and New Testaments. As Christians, we accept the authority of the Bible and in it find our fundamental principles.

Number 1

God’s ultimate goal is to preserve, display and enjoy His own greatness and glory.

Number 2

He has displayed that glory in creation and redemption.

Number 3

God’s purpose for mankind is therefore to glorify God and bring Him pleasure. Because of the presence of sin, we can only do this in the power of the Holy Spirit, sent by Christ to all who look to Him for salvation.

Number 4

God has given us His Word, the Bible, as the authoritative guide to living for His glory and pleasure.

Number 5

The fulfilment of God’s plan, through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, is to make us partakers of His divine nature and continue in His presence forever.

Number 6

Parents are responsible for the training and instruction of their children (see Ephesians 6:1-4, Deuteronomy 6:6-9, Psalm 78:1-4, Proverbs 1:8, Proverbs 22:6). It is the duty and privilege of Christian parents to consistently nurture their children to respond in faith and obedience to God in all areas of life.

Our Faith

Reformed in Outlook

The College is not controlled by any particular church or denomination. We hold strongly to a Protestant heritage that has its roots in the Reformation, and in particular a Reformed or “Calvinistic” outlook guides much of our Christian thinking and practice. The Three Forms of Unity or the Westminster Confession of Faith provide the basis for this.

Faith in the Classroom

It is the policy of the College to employ staff who are able to demonstrate an active Christian faith in keeping with a Protestant tradition. Not only does this ensure that a Christian worldview is maintained in the classroom, but it creates an atmosphere where teachers and students are regularly able to discuss issues of faith. This may be done during Form periods, daily devotionals, or as a matter of course in the delivery of a lesson.

Our teachers are also trained to embed a Creation-Fall-Redemption model into their programming and lesson planning, with programs reviewed regularly by our Principals and the Board’s Curriculum Monitor to ensure a strong, Christ-centred education is maintained.
