Year 8 Synergy Solar Car Challenge

Year 8 Synergy Solar Car Challenge

Congratulations to Zacharias Chia, Richard Sampoerna, Kenneth Tanady and Aaron Widyadi for the way they competed and represented the College!

On Thursday 23 March, a group of four Year 8 students represented the College in the Synergy Solar Car Challenge.

This saw them competing against a number of other local (and not so local) schools in building, testing and racing a solar powered car.

With only 45 minutes up their sleeve, the students did a fantastic job in building their car and then testing it to make sure it was running as quick as they could get it.

They had built up a fair amount of anticipation for the race at this point and were happy with what they had managed to put together – all the while the sun was doing its job to allow the race to take place!

The heat that the students ended up in, turned out to be a very strong group with both the winning team (not us unfortunately) and the third-place team coming from this heat.

Unfortunately, despite their previous testing, our car suffered problems during the race, but to the students’ credit, they never gave up and were able to work through the problems to get their car working and racing.

It was a fantastic opportunity to get together with a range of other schools and to have some friendly, fun competition as Year 8 students.

Congratulations to Zacharias Chia, Richard Sampoerna, Kenneth Tanady and Aaron Widyadi for the way they competed and represented the College!
