A Stunning Day to Run4Bibles

The Primary Cross Country Carnival was held on a stunning August day at the Mills Park Sporting Complex. This represented a change of venue for the Primary, who have usually held the event at the Kenwick Campus. With a new venue came a new set of challenges for the students to undertake, with the cross country track being run through a variety of surfaces and terrains.

Years 2-4 students completed a 1.5 km track around a football oval, along foot paths and through bush land. The Year 5-6 students ran a very similar 2 km track that involved two laps through the bush land area.

It was a fantastic day of competition and sportsmanship. The ability and determination of students was clearly on display as they undertook the new track and the challenging distance. Congratulations to all who participated in the event, our Champion and Runner-up Champions, and to Wycliffe for being the winning House on the day.

Run4Bibles

We partnered with Bible League for this year’s carnival and added another layer to the day with the Run4Bibles campaign. The ministry of Bible League Australia is able to plant God’s Word solely through the generous support of the Christian community.

The Run4Bibles campaign raises much-needed funds for the Bible League to supply packs of a Bible and “Choose Life” resource to students in South African public schools. As the Bible League says, Run4Bibles “is an opportunity for students to shine God’s light into the lives of young people in South Africa […] It takes just $7 to provide a complete pack, a small investment that has the ability to bear the greatest return – a life transformed by the power of the Gospel.”

We managed to raise a whopping $8,298 between Wilson and Kenwick! This is a huge point of praise for our College, where we can use a relatively simple activity like cross country running to glorify God. Thank you to everyone who sponsored the students. Just imagine the impact of more than 1,000 Bibles in the hands of our “yet to be saved” brothers and sisters in South Africa? Please pray for the seed to be sown in receptive hearts!

For more information on this venture for next year, please check the Bible League’s website.
