Against a backdrop of clear skies, the day’s exploration sparked new perspectives on the intricacies of urban sustainability and development.

The Year 12 Geography students embarked on an insightful excursion to the Town of Victoria Park, Perth CBD and Northbridge. They went on a mission to study the intricate challenges confronting modern urban centres in their pursuit of sustainable planning and development.

The expedition proved both educational and enlightening as students delved into the multifaceted realms of urban planning.

At the heart of Victoria Park, the students gained invaluable insights into innovative solutions to housing quandaries through the construction of Shop-top houses and Transport-Oriented Planning within the Town of Victoria Park.

Transitioning to the bustling CBD, the group keenly analysed the meticulous planning behind the Elizabeth Quay Special Purpose Zone, admired the pedestrian-centric urban design of Perth CBD, and navigated the vibrant streets of Northbridge, dissecting the functions inherent to the Inner Mixed Zone.

Against a backdrop of clear skies, the day’s exploration sparked new perspectives on the intricacies of urban sustainability and development.

Despite the fatigue from walking extensive distances on foot, the students expressed profound gratitude for the excursion, recognising the immerse benefits reaped from the excursion, which ignited new perspectives on the intricacies of planning for sustainable urban places.
