It was so wonderful meeting all the new Kindies and their loved ones.
What a blessing it was to hold our annual community Teddy Bears’ Picnic as the Wilson Kindy students begun their exciting new journey into ‘big’ school. Even though it was a very windy day, the community atmosphere was buzzing. It was also lovely to see the conversations and warm smiles amongst all who were there.
On Tuesday 1 February, the children were asked to bring their favourite teddy/snuggle toy to school to enjoy a Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Each family set up their picnic blanket and enjoyed a delicious picnic lunch while engaging in conversations with each other. It was so wonderful meeting all the new Kindies and their loved ones… including their teddies! The children enjoyed seeing their teachers once again and meeting some of their classmates as they explored the wonderful outdoor environment together.
On Wednesday 2 February and Friday 4 February, the students came to school in two separate groups and enjoyed their very first full day of Kindy; and “full” it was! There was so much to experience and explore on the first day of Kindy! We discovered that the Bible is all about Jesus, sang praise and worship songs together with all of our hearts, explored the Home Corner, Book Corner, Construction Areas, did our very first Kindy painting, squished and moulded the playdough into many interesting things, and painted our hands which was very tickly. There were so many things to choose from but just not enough time in the day to enjoy everything.
Being away from our parents for a whole day can be a little daunting at times for some students, but we all did really well. We spent the day investigating the wonderful play equipment both inside and outside as we learnt how to share and take turns.
