National Neuroscience Champion

National Neuroscience Champion

The Australian Brain Bee Champion!

Back in Semester 1, you may recall that four of our Year 10 students travelled to UWA for the Western Australian Brain Bee finals. You may even recall that Sam took out the top spot, earning himself a place in the National finals over in Brisbane.

Well, over the last 15 weeks or so, Sam has been learning some very high-level neuroscience in his “spare time”, being personally tutored by Professor Charles Watson from UWA.

During Week 8 of this term, Sam spent three full days working with PhD students and lecturers at the UWA neuroscience labs and at the Peron Institute. Then this week, from 3 to 5 December, Sam competed in Brisbane, completing three sets of exams at the Queensland Brain Institute, followed by a final Q&A round at the Brisbane Hotel in conjunction with the Australian Neuroscience Society.

It is an absolute privilege to announce to you that Sam performed exceptionally well, scoring 100% in three of the four assessments and 97% overall, taking out the title of National champion.

Sam’s success is a testament to his character, his work ethic, his hunger for learning, and his desire to honour God with the gifts and talents He has given him. Join me in congratulating, and honouring Sam for his fantastic work.
