Grand Opening of the Big and Bold Circus

Grand Opening of the Big and Bold Circus

You can guarantee we had no idea what to expect but with thoughtful preparation and spirits running high, we were greeted by the children of Leonora.

Tuesday the Terrific

Tuesday was our first full day of the Bush Mission Program and it was tremendous to be able to welcome over 60 kids!

Hear about the day from André Burger and Macayle Tan –

Guess what we had for breakfast? UNCLE TOBY’S CHEERIOS!!

Hey, hey, hey. Roll up, roll up! Today was the grand opening of the BIG & BOLD Circus! You can guarantee we had no idea what to expect but with thoughtful preparation and spirits running high, we were greeted by the children of Leonora (after a hearty bus ride and a big breakfast in the Breaky Club).

Many introductions were made, new names attempted and myriads of little faces beamed with expectation. Everyone was eager to participate in the games (thanks Circus Trainers); the singing and the dancing (holler out to the musos and action crew); watch the super fun drama performances and Bible stories (hey-ho actors); have a good crack at the memory verse – 2 Timothy 1:17 (ran by M1 and M2); and make a beautiful, happy mess in the craft rooms (thanks artists).

Morning tea was a crucial break in the day’s programme for the Leonora Bushies Crew, which was met by a gladly welcomed surprise: Military Vehicles and Soldiers! There were 6×6 camo utes that were entirely accessible to all, of every size, and comprehensively discovered and enjoyed.

Post-chaos, the big clean-up ensued and preparations for the following sessions commenced. The afternoon session on the oval allowed for universal involvement and fun in the way of sport.

On the other side of town (in the rec centre), the little ones enjoyed face-painting (from very skilled artists), bracelet-making and very circus-like balloon animals. Finally, the day closed-off with a very loud and active movie-night session (some would consider it hectic, but it was clear that everyone appreciated the community-feel).

Y’know how the day ended? Mrs Stewart told us ’bout the Cheeky Chickies’.

Waking up Wednesday morning, the team is certainly feeling tired and some are feeling a little under the weather, so pray for energy and good health as we continue to minister to the children of this community.

Already so many good stories to share and looking forward to many more!
