So Many Things to be Thankful For

This year, our College community celebrates 50 years at Rehoboth. We have so much to be thankful to God for over that time. In Colossians 3:15-17 it says:

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs…

Year 2 Creative Homework Projects

Over the course of Term 4, Year 2 Kenwick students completed a Homework Booklet that included a range of different projects. Students were still expected to complete their reading and spelling homework each night, but this new method allowed them to develop skills such as creativity, collaboration, physical activity, agency, problem solving, and motor skills.

Each fortnight they were given a choice between two projects. They were able to present their project as a…

Swimming Lessons

It was with much excitement that the children in Pre-Primary to Year 3 boarded the bus to go to StateSwim last Monday. We consider water safety to be very important in a country like Australia and this was a great opportunity for the students to develop their skills. It was good to see that many students advanced to the next swimming level. Well done to everyone!

WACSSA Primary Athletics Carnival

On Friday, 30 October the Rehoboth runners took to the track to compete in the WACSSA Athletics Carnival. Competition between the 7 schools in Division 1 was intense. After a score update halfway through the day (and including the results from the Jumps and Throws) Rehoboth was in front by 100 points.

Arts Festival Excellence

We had an amazing week celebrating the Rehoboth Arts Festival this year. The week commenced with a fantastic lunchtime concert by the Rehoboth Senior Worship Band, which was accompanied with a sausage sizzle by the Student Council.

The week-long event was officially opened by Mrs Crittenden, at the International Assembly on Tuesday. This year the focus was on our school theme of “One School – Many Nations”. We were greeted by a beautiful…

2015 NAPLAN Results: Kenwick Primary

Recently we sent home the NAPLAN results for students in Years 3 and 5 for 2015. At Rehoboth, we delight in seeing children’s progress and celebrate success. Many traits of a successful learner and, more importantly, a follower of Christ are not tested by NAPLAN or any other form of examination. As far as Literacy and Numeracy are concerned, NAPLAN is only one form of assessment and parents should be aware that students are constantly…

The Merits of NAPLAN

The 2015 NAPLAN testing took place from 12-14 May. NAPLAN allows each student and group performance to be measured against common national standards, giving teachers information to inform their planning and classroom teaching in literacy and numeracy, and assisting the school to monitor students’ performance. Rehoboth’s performance was once again a strong one where our Year 7 and Year 9 cohort outperformed the WA mean in all areas. This compared favourably to…
