A ‘Roar-some’ Start to Term 3

A 'Roar-some' Start to Term 3

The Pre-Primary students have been immersing themselves in caring for wildlife!

The students shared an interest in learning about God’s wonderful creatures, so this term began with our own ‘Zoo Hospital’ play space where the Pre-Primaries have been immersing themselves in caring for wildlife!

This has involved making appointments, doing checkups, taking temperatures, performing operations, administering medicines and lots of injections, feeding, taking x-rays, bandaging and dressing wounds!

What an amazing way to learn through play!

We have even learnt the importance of keeping our zoo hospital and all of our surgical tools clean and sanitary!

Perhaps we have some budding veterinarians, doctors, nurses, surgeons, anaesthetists, receptionists, biologists or zookeepers in our midst!

To help us begin these investigations, the students also went on a nature hunt over the holidays to find some ‘nature treasures’ which they then sorted into groups of ‘living’ or ‘non-living’ things.

We learnt that living things grow, have cells, reproduce, and they need water, nutrients and air. We discussed all of the amazing parts of God’s creation and how we have been made to rule over it and care for it.

God also made us, in His image, and we have begun to explore what it means to have the Holy Spirit living in us. We know that the Holy Spirit is our helper, and the ‘Fruit of the Spirit’ are the ways that we can shine God’s love through us. In Week One we learnt that we were created to LOVE God and LOVE others. Thank you, God that we love because you first loved us!

Genesis 1:24-26: And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

1 John 4:19: We love because He first loved us.
