This was a trip full of new discoveries, worship, and camaraderie. Parents, you can be proud of how your children embraced every moment, learned valuable life skills, and grew in their faith and friendships.
You could feel the excitement in the air as the Year 6 students embarked on their much-anticipated camp at Boshack Eco Farm Stay. Nestled in the heart of Western Australia’s stunning bushland, this camp promised not only adventure and fun but also opportunities for personal growth, worshiping our Creator, new friendships, and collaborative opportunities. Let’s take you through the highlights of this unforgettable experience!
Canoeing Adventures
The shimmering lake at Boshack Eco Farm was the perfect setting for our canoeing escapades. With life jackets secured and paddles in hand, the students teamed up to navigate the waters. Laughter echoed across the lake as they learned to synchronise their strokes and steer their canoes. No one survived without being splashed or having lake-weed thrown at them. It was a wonderful opportunity for teamwork and perseverance, and by the end of the camp, everyone had mastered
Worship Around the Fire
As the sun set, the warmth of the campfire brought everyone together for evening worship. There’s something truly special about singing praises under a canopy of stars. The crackling fire, the serene surroundings, and the heartfelt songs created an atmosphere of reverence and gratitude. This was a time to reflect on the day, listen to Mrs Cook’s devotion, and bond over our shared love for the Lord.
Cooking Marshmallows
Of course, no campfire is complete without marshmallows! Armed with sticks and a lot of enthusiasm, the students roasted marshmallows to perfection. Gooey, golden, and delicious, these treats added an extra layer of joy to our nights around the fire. It was a simple pleasure that brought smiles to everyone’s faces and created sweet memories.
Farm Tours and Bush Walks
Boshack Eco Farm is a treasure trove of natural beauty and farm life. Our guided farm tours introduced the students to various farm animals and sustainable farming practices. From feeding the horses to watching the alpacas graze, it was a hands-on learning experience that connected them with nature.
The bush walks were equally exciting. Led by a knowledgeable guide, the students explored the native flora and fauna, learning about the rich biodiversity of the area. The rustling leaves, chirping birds, and learning of the rich history of the farm made these walks a delightful adventure.
Bush First Aid and Shelter Building
One of the camp’s highlights was the bush first aid and shelter-building workshop. The students were taught essential survival skills, such as how to treat snake bite injuries using bandages as well as how to construct a shelter from branches and leaves. These activities not only equipped them with practical knowledge but also fostered problem-solving skills and resilience. Many of the groups came together to display encouraging teamwork and perseverance, especially during the shelter building.
Praising God for His Beautiful Creation
Throughout the camp, there was a constant sense of awe and appreciation for God’s creation. Whether it was marvelling at a brilliant sunset over the serene lake, listening to the sounds of the bush, or simply enjoying the fresh, clean air, the students were continually reminded of the beauty and majesty of God’s handiwork. They spent time together in prayer groups each day and were blessed by devotions from Mrs Marmion, Mr Bolhuis, Mrs Cook and Mrs Hurley.
Making New Friends
An added bonus of the camp was the opportunity to make new friends from the Wilson Campus. Sharing these adventures and experiences created bonds that will hopefully last long after the camp ended, especially as students get to interact through Deep Dive and possibly in Secondary School as well. It was heartwarming to see students from different backgrounds come together, work together as teams, and form new friendships.
As we packed up to head home, there was a unanimous feeling of gratitude, joy, and tiredness (from both students and staff). The Rehoboth Year 6 camp at Boshack Eco Farm Stay was a trip full of new discoveries, worship, and camaraderie. Parents, you can be proud of how your children embraced every moment, learned valuable life skills, and grew in their faith and friendships. This camp will undoubtedly be a cherished memory for years to come!
