Four of our Year 8 students enthusiastically and proudly represented the college at Southern River College in the Synergy Solar Car Challenge, and exciting event that brought together schools from across the region to design, build, and race solar-powered cars.
With just 45 minutes on the clock, the team – Wesley Radford, Joshua Batey, Samuel Mawby, and Adele van den Bos – worked with focus and determination to construct their solar car. After a quick round of testing and fine-tuning, they were ready to race, energised by the anticipation and the bright sunshine that made the event possible.
The students found themselves in a particularly competitive heat, and were very close to winning the one-off repechage round and making it through to the semi-final round. While they didn’t take home a trophy, the experience was a valuable one – filled with learning, collaboration, and friendly competition. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with students from other schools and to showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills.
Congratulations to Wesley, Joshua, Samuel, and Adele for their outstanding effort and for representing the college with such enthusiasm and resilience!
