Year 2 Blue Students Learn and Explore

We have enjoyed the opportunities we’ve had this term where we got to learn, explore and take part in so many activities.

The Year 2 Blue class enjoyed a busy start to Term 3.

During maths sessions, we break into three groups and rotate through a series of learning experiences. We have a wonderful stand-up table where a group will complete an independent maths-based activity. Mrs Ray works with a group on the mat and Mrs Pol or Mrs Botha will assist a third group in our block corner with a different activity.

Our students also enjoy the opportunities to explore their dramatic play skills at the home corner. They love to prepare meals, create shopping experiences and create cafes and restaurants.

Our class has lots of people who love to build. Some students love building with Lego and some of love building with blocks! We have a Lego building table that is very popular, and we have a fabulous block corner where we have constructed all sorts of amazing buildings. I am sure we have some future engineers in our class.

We also enjoy having the library close to our classroom and we have utilised this facility to fill our reading corner with books that the students have chosen. Many of our students love to grab a book and sit on our couch for some reading time.

We have just finished our Talk for Writing unit, ‘How to Make a Disgusting Sandwich’, and learned all about writing recipes and instructions. We have now moved onto narrative writing and are enjoying the text, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.

In Christian Studies, we are loving learning about the Jesus’ miracles. Our favourite story has been the story of Jesus controlling the wind and the waves.

‘Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like the shifting shadows’ (James 1:17).
