Year 12 Chemistry Excursion to UWA

Year 12 Chemistry Excursion to UWA

We are grateful to God for such an enriching experience at UWA and the opportunity to be inspired by where Chemistry can take us.

In Semester 1, our Year 12 Chemistry students had an eye-opening excursion at the UWA Molecular Science Building. They had the chance to perform an organic Chemistry synthesis experiment in the high-tech Chemistry laboratory, where they were able to make and purify Aspirin from their raw reactants.

The process was slightly more complicated than their usual experience, but our students were able to follow through with the procedure and successfully manufacture their own Aspirin. Following the experiment, students were given an inspiring presentation on the current research work conducted by their experiment facilitator. They were introduced to the courses and career pathways available at UWA and had a chance to ask questions.

The excursion concluded with a wonderful fellowship lunch at the UWA main cafeteria. We could experience the University vibe there as various student clubs were running their activities at the same time. We are grateful to God for such an enriching experience at UWA and the opportunity to be inspired by where Chemistry can take us.
