Year 11 Bible Society Masterclass

The Masterclass empowered our Year 11 students to think boldly, live faithfully, and engage compassionately – equipping them to be thoughtful Christian leaders in a complex world.

On Monday 5 August, our Year 11 students had the exciting opportunity to attend the Bible Society Masterclass in Perth — a day filled with worship, learning, and meaningful conversation. The event complemented our Christian Perspectives curriculum, where students have been exploring biblical exegesis and practising how to engage respectfully with people from different worldviews.

Our students joined peers from schools across Perth to worship together and make new connections. The day featured a lineup of dynamic speakers who challenged, encouraged, and inspired our young people.

Simon Smart, Executive Director of the Centre for Public Christianity, encouraged students to see the natural world as a gift from God, exploring what creation reveals about who we are and who God is. Justine Toh, Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Public Christianity, highlighted the importance of embracing human connection (Imago Dei), even when it feels awkward, showing how authentic relationships reflect God’s presence. Finally, Mark Stephens, lecturer in New Testament at Sydney Missionary & Bible College, challenged students to live faithfully for Jesus, even when outcomes are uncertain, teaching that love, perseverance, and holiness are central to Christian witness.

Students also participated in lively Q&A sessions, asking honest and searching questions about faith, culture, and navigating life as a Christian today. Throughout the day, our Year 11s represented the school with maturity, curiosity, and enthusiasm, leaving the Masterclass equipped to think more deeply about the Bible, apologetics, and their own faith journey.

The Masterclass was more than an educational experience — it offered students the chance to grow spiritually, socially, and intellectually, strengthening their confidence to engage with different worldviews and stand firm in their faith. We are proud of our students for embracing the day with open minds, respect, and enthusiasm.
