Through all our wonderings and discoveries, the most important thing we learnt was, that while lots of things in the world change, God does not change!
In Kindy, we are super curious little people. We wonder about things, we ask questions, and we interact with different provocations. Basically, we love exploring things every day! Lately, we have spent quite a bit of time inquiring into things that grow and change.
We began our wonderings by discussing how humans grow and change. We viewed a time lapse of a baby until the age of four, and a time lapse of a young girl who changed into an elderly lady. It was fascinating to see a quick change in human growth over time. We also created a beautiful grow and change craft.
One of the most exciting things to celebrate growing and changing in Kindy is having a birthday. A birthday is definitely special when you are four. Isn’t God’s design for us to grow and change just amazing?
Next, we wondered about seeds. What are they? How do they grow? We had a close look at the seeds inside different fruits and vegetables, and we were curious to find out whether fruits and vegetables can grow from their scraps. We planted some mystery seeds, designed our own pretend gardens, and grew our very own grass heads – they grew super fast!
Our next wondering was, “Why do leaves change colours?” To follow on from our discussions and discoveries, we read ‘Leaf Man’ by Lois Ehlert and made our very own ‘Leaf man’. We also explored art with shaving cream and paint as we created marble printed leaves to represent the changing of colour in leaves over time.
Another change we noticed was the change from a nice, warm and sunny day to a cloudy, cold and rainy day. This change gave us the opportunity to jump up and down in puddles.
Something else we did was cooking. We got to see all the ingredients in their original state, the change that happened after we mixed wet and dry ingredients together, and the change of the ingredients after it was baked in the oven. Our ANZAC biscuits and coconut macaroons were delicious!
Through all our wonderings and discoveries, the most important thing we learnt was, that while lots of things in the world change, God does not change! He remains the same today, tomorrow, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
