Supporting Your Child’s Transition to Secondary School

Year 7/8 Endeavour Program

The transition from primary to secondary school is a critical period in a child’s development. Recognising the unique challenges of early adolescence, Rehoboth Christian College offers a structured middle school program to support students during this critical period. Our Year 7/8 Endeavour Program bridges the gap between primary and secondary learning by offering a curriculum filled with hands-on, engaging activities that help students develop creativity, problem-solving skills, and effective learning strategies.

Why Choose the Endeavour Program?

Tailored Learning for Early Adolescence

Our program is designed specifically for Year 7 and 8 students, incorporating elements from both our primary and secondary curriculums. We aim to foster an environment where students can develop the necessary skills for upper secondary while growing in their understanding of God’s world and their place within it.

Holistic Development

We focus on nurturing the whole child—academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Through personalised learning experiences, students build resilience, leadership, and communication skills that will benefit them in all areas of life.

Key Features of the Endeavour Program

  • Leadership and Responsibility: Students are guided by a dedicated Year 7/8 Team Leader and staff, helping them navigate the transition into secondary education.
  • Study Skills and Personal Organisation: Students develop essential study habits and personal organisation skills to support them throughout their schooling years.
  • Student Leadership Opportunities: The school community assigns students roles to lead and serve, fostering their development of confidence and responsibility.
  • Canberra Trip (Year 7): This trip complements the Australian Government and Civics study in the Year 7 curriculum.
  • Year 8 Mission Trip: An opportunity for students to engage in mission work and serve others.
  • Digital Discipleship: Students gain the skills necessary to responsibly navigate the digital world from a Christian perspective.
  • Building Resilience: We incorporate activities that help students develop resilience and adaptability in facing challenges.
  • Collaborative Learning: The program emphasises group work, problem-solving, and practical learning through community-based projects.
  • Introduction to Specialist Learning Areas: Students begin using science labs, food science, and design and technology areas, which help them transition to more specialised subjects.
  • Pastoral Care: Each class is assigned a Form Teacher who provides ongoing support; fostering a caring and supportive learning environment.

Students who are passionate about learning can participate in the LEX@R (Learning Extension) program, which is expanded for Year 7 and 8 students. This program allows students to pursue challenges beyond the regular curriculum and engage in advanced academic activities.

Our program gradually increases the number of teachers students interact with and introduces them to exams and final term tests, preparing them for the structure and expectations of upper secondary. Through this structured progression, students become confident learners, ready to face the challenges of their later years.
