Strong Bodies, Wise Choices, Peaceful Hearts

Health education plays a vital role in shaping the choices, habits, and attitudes children carry with them each day. Across Years 1–6, students are being equipped with practical skills for wellbeing, safety, and relationships, grounded in a Christian understanding of care, responsibility, and peace.

So much has been happening in our Health lessons across Year 1-6! Health lessons are about much more than information—they shape habits, attitudes, and choices that children carry with them every day.

During Term 1, our Health focus was on Protective Behaviours education. This is a vital area of learning that helps children develop the skills, language, and confidence needed to recognise unsafe situations and seek help when needed. Students explored concepts such as personal safety, trusted adults, body boundaries, and the importance of speaking up if something doesn’t feel right.

Protective Behaviours were taught through a Christian perspective, reinforcing that every child is created by God, deeply loved, and valued. Students were encouraged to see safety, care, and respect as part of God’s design for relationships. We emphasised that God places trusted people in our lives, parents, teachers, and carers, to help protect us and guide us, and that asking for help is a wise and brave choice.

The unit concluded with a Constable Care incursion, which provided a practical and engaging way to revisit and reinforce key messages. Students will be bringing home their Protective behaviours workbooks and families are encouraged to discuss together. Now in Term 2, our Health lessons are focusing on Food and Nutrition during the first half of the term. Students are learning about healthy food choices, balanced eating, and everyday habits that promote wellbeing. A key emphasis is understanding that caring for our bodies is one way we can honour God, recognising our bodies as His creation and a gift to be looked after with gratitude and wisdom. If you are looking for some wet weather ways to keep the family moving and have fun how about having a go together with one of Danny Go’s videos.

In the second half of Term 2, students will move into the PeaceWise unit, which supports children in learning how to handle conflict in healthy, respectful ways. This program teaches practical conflictresolution skills grounded in biblical principles. Students will practise responding to conflict in ways that build peace, strengthen relationships, and reflect Christlike character. You can find out more about PeaceWise here.

Thank you for walking alongside us as we support students in their learning and growth. Through consistent messages at school and home, children are being equipped with skills and attitudes that will serve them well now and into the future.
