Rehoboth’s motto is Soli Deo Gloria which is a Latin phrase meaning ‘For the glory of God alone’.
As parents, we care for our children’s education. We wake up, help them get ready, and send them off to school. As students, we study hard for exams, aim for good grades, and obey our parents and respect our teachers. As teachers, we stay up to plan for classes and intentionally look out for each student’s progress in class.
But the motivation behind all this is not for self-gain nor self-ambition.
Our motto is ‘For the glory of God alone’. But why do we want to do things that we do for the glory of God alone? We often need reminding of what fuels us in our roles and service for God’s glory alone. And that is His immeasurable grace (Eph 2:8-10).
Since we can be forgetful sometimes, we need to be constantly reminded by the Holy Spirit that we are the beneficiaries of Christ’s redeeming work. He gave up His life for us, so our lives are but a small offering back to Him.
Because God has first given us His all, we want to give Him all the glory He deserves and live our whole life in a manner worthy of our calling (Eph 4:1-6).
