Day 5 of Canberra – 22 June
This day was filled with exploration and learning as we departed early for Cockington Green Gardens. At the gardens, we enjoyed a self-guided tour, marvelling at the intricate miniature displays that captured the students’ imaginations. After a refreshing morning tea amidst the charming scenery, we headed to Gold Creek Station.
At Gold Creek Station, the students had an unforgettable experience. They participated in a facilitated program that provided hands-on insights into rural life. The highlight was definitely wrestling sheep and watching a live sheep shearing demonstration, which was both educational and entertaining. Following this, we enjoyed a hearty lunch at the station, savouring the fresh country air and the sense of accomplishment from our morning activities.
Next, we journeyed to Questacon, where the students were captivated by the interactive science exhibits. From robotics to physics, there was something for everyone, and the self-guided visit allowed the students to explore at their own pace. The excitement was palpable as they engaged with the exhibits and participated in various scientific challenges.
To cap off the day, we visited Mount Ainslie, where we were treated to stunning panoramic views of Canberra. The students were in awe of the cityscape and enjoyed identifying the landmarks they had visited during the trip.
Back at Sundown Villas, we gathered for dinner and shared stories from the day’s adventures. The day concluded with a heartfelt devotion led by Mrs de Bruyn, followed by some fun games and watching the footy, which was a perfect end to a fantastic day.
