Secondary Choir and Bands Inspire Primary Students

Encouraging our Secondary students to think deeply about how they might use their gifts to serve God and His people.

During Week 2 of Term 2, music students from the Specialist Bands Program and the Secondary Choir performed a concert for the Rehoboth Primary School students. We setup in the gym on Wednesday morning to perform for Kenwick Primary. Then, Friday morning we hauled all our equipment over to Wilson campus on the bus and performed the same set for the students there.

It’s my hope that I might contribute to encouraging our Secondary students to think deeply about how they might use their gifts to serve God and His people. Music playing and performance in our culture has become saturated with self-serving intent, but when God (the ultimate musician) gave us music, He intended for us to use it as a means for encouraging, teaching, and inspiring others. These concerts were an opportunity for the Secondary students to put this into practice, to learn some children’s songs and perform them in front of the Primary students, so that they might be inspired and entertained.

A big thank you to Mrs Hlatywawo, our Vocal teacher, who is doing a great job teaching the choir. Thank you to Mr Vivian who teaches several of the specialist band groups, Mr Yurisich who did sound and setup, as well as our Secondary students Joanna Paul and Mikayla Chiu who took photos.

Well done to all our Secondary students who were involved, we hope that the Primary students enjoyed their music.
