Sam Lim MP Visit to Rehoboth

Sam Lim MP Visit to Rehoboth

On Monday 1 May, the Wilson Primary campus enjoyed a visit from Sam Lim MP, Federal Member for Tangney.

Sam’s visit was a time for us to share a little about what Christian Education looks like at Rehoboth and how strong parent partnerships are at the heart of our College community.

We spent the morning taking a tour of the campus, visiting classes, talking with students and seeing how a Christian worldview is embedded throughout all our learning. Sam met with staff and learned why it was essential that schools continue to have the right to employ Christian staff who hold to the belief and values of the school. Sam met with our admin staff and grounds staff to gain a deeper appreciation of how all staff speak into our children’s lives. He was particularly moved at hearing how our Facilities Manager, Ray van der Kooij, disciples students in his role.

Our morning finished with a special morning tea in which Sam met with some of our parent body and heard from them directly regarding why they choose to partner with Rehoboth and why possible restrictions to employment and enrolment freedoms are such a concern to our community.

Thank you for those who attended our morning and particularly to Michelle Verkerk for initiating this contact with Sam Lim.

Please continue to uphold Sam in prayer in his role as our federal representative. We pray that the appreciation and value that he expressed during his visit for faith-based schools to maintain their religious freedoms is one he voices strongly in Parliament.
