Last week the LEX@R students began the task of building a scale model of a bridge to help the citizens of Whitetooth and Wobbegong connect across the Ripper River.
We have spent many weeks doing some research and inquiry into different bridges and designs and their benefits. It proved to be a challenge to work out the correct scale for the model and design a bridge to fit one of two possible sites as well as work out which kind of bridge would be appropriate for that site.
The bridges will be tested by the Year 12 physics students to see if they can hold a kilogram across each section of the bridge and withstand the forces of compression and tension in the process. All will be revealed!
