Rehoboth Students Explore Sustainable Urban Development Across Perth

Rehoboth students recently immersed themselves in a series of Chinese language and cultural experiences, gaining firsthand insight into traditions that have shaped Chinese society for centuries. Through calligraphy, music, language, and cuisine, students deepened their intercultural understanding while appreciating the richness and diversity of God’s world.

On 5 August, our Year 12 ATAR Geography students explored Perth’s urban landscape to investigate sustainability and development. The itinerary included Victoria Park, the Perth CBD, and Northbridge, where students examined innovative housing solutions, the Elizabeth Quay Special Purpose Zone, and the functions of the Inner Mixed Zone.

A highlight of the day was meeting with the Town of Victoria Park’s Development Services Manager, who provided students with valuable insights into current urban planning challenges, policy priorities, and proposed developments that are shaping sustainable living within the Town of Victoria Park and the broader Perth metropolitan area. Students then applied this knowledge through a range of fieldwork, walking, and orienteering activities, connecting geographical concepts with real-world planning and development.

Blessed with beautiful winter weather, the excursion provided an excellent opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of urban environments while developing their fieldwork and observational skills. Above all, we give thanks to God for the opportunity to learn more about His creation, to grow in knowledge and understanding, and to enjoy fellowship together beyond the classroom.
