The WACSSA Soccer Carnival was held on Thursday 7 May at Maida Vale Reserve. Conditions proved to be close to perfect, with a cool but clear day forecast for the duration of the carnival.
Once again assisting with coaching and refereeing roles were a select group of the Year 10 Specialist Sport Soccer students.
With a growing talent pool of students keen to participate, this year saw Rehoboth enter three teams into the competition: Boys A Division, Boys B Division, and Girls B Division. Being a Division 1 schools event, our teams were going to come up against some tough competition, regardless of A or B Division. This was confirmed when the first games started, prompting all teams for the need to play their best football.
It was a hard-fought competition for our Boys A and B Division teams, with each enjoying the success of winning, as well as the disappointment of dropping a game. Both teams represented themselves admirably, with our boys’ teams finishing in third place overall in their respective divisions – well done to everyone for their hard work!

Our Girls B Division team gelled well together, enjoying the highs and lows as they came. They were successful in almost all their games, receiving a tied result in only one game.
It all came down to the final game, where the girls played off against the other top team. Sadly, the opposition was able to score a solitary goal, which meant our girls finished in second place overall – still an excellent achievement!
Special thanks to our Year 10 student coaches and referees: Lanah, Swayde, Darasimi, Kadi, Kirra, Felicity, and Reuben – you all did an amazing job! Thanks to Mr Bolhuis and Mr Moylan for their assistance in helping things run smoothly on the day. It was once again wonderful to have the support of our College families on the sidelines, living vicariously through their children. With our students using their gifts and enjoying being outdoors in God’s creation, it all ensured a great day for everyone!
