Quiz Night 2015

Saturday night was the 3rd annual Philippines Mission Trip Quiz Night, raising funds to purchase building supplies and bless the people of the Philippines. The Rehoboth community came out in force to support the night, with over 200 people attending and 26 children in the crèche.

The Quizzical team of Mr and Mrs Nightingale and their son, Rob, ran a challenging, but thoroughly enjoyable quiz. Many were drawn back to their childhood with the round on Disney songs, while others were scratching their heads when tasked with matching the trophy to a sporting code. In the end the victory fell to Mrs Ball and Mrs Laugharne’s table, with the van der Kooij’s table missing out on the win by a mere few points.

The night also included a silent auction. Many amazing items such as a chef-cooked dinner for four people, which sold for $400, a signed Eagles guernsey, which sold for $500, and a flagpole and flag from All Flags were snapped up in the bidding wars, while people also took home a bargain from the donated items, jewellery, and vouchers tables.

Congratulations to the Year 11-12 Philippines Mission Trip Team, who set up the gym, help run the night, canteen, and crèche and then clean up after. Also a big thank you to Mrs H Hondema and Mrs N de Jongh who organised and ran the canteen, and to our Chaplain, Mr Blennerhassett, who helped with a lot of the preparation leading up to (and on) the night. It was a huge success, with over $6,700 raised. We would like to thank everyone who attended and were so generous.
