About the Position

The Science Laboratory Technician will report to the Secondary Principal at Kenwick and support Science staff and students by preparing and maintaining equipment for scientific experiments and assisting staff during practical lessons. This is a part-time, three Term fixed-term contract to commence at the start of Term 2 with a two-week handover. It is a Maternity Leave replacement position.

Essential criteria for the successful applicant:

  • have a demonstrated knowledge of general scientific equipment, maintenance needs and preparation of chemical solutions;
  • knowledge of health and safety guidelines as well as chemical safe handling, storage and disposal;
  • have an outstanding ability to work autonomously and as part of a team;
  • capacity to organise and prioritise duties;

Desirable criteria for the successful applicant:

  • experience with RiskAssess;
  • sound IT skills including proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite;
  • ability to repair basic scientific equipment; and
  • previous experience working in Secondary School.
