Have you ever received a gift that caused you to ponder how thoughtful the person was because they knew what you needed?
Well, our Heavenly Father surely knew. He gave us the ultimate gift, and we never knew we needed it! That gift was His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to be our Saviour (John 3:16).
While we were sinners and spiritually dead, in God’s goodness, loving-kindness, and His own great mercy, Christ died for us so that we may be reconciled back to Him (Rom 5:8; Titus 3:4-7).
That is why Christmas is a time to celebrate the good news of Jesus Christ (Luke 2:10-11). We can joyfully reflect on God’s grace and rejoice in gratitude with our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world for what He has freely done for us! ‘The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord’ (Rom 6:23).
So, aside from the Christmas trees, festive decorations, chocolates, and gifts, let us not forget God’s inexpressible gift to us (2 Cor 9:15) which is the Greatest Gift we could ever receive – Jesus Christ.
