Over the course of Term 3 in Outdoor Recreation, Year 9 students have been learning a game called Disc Golf which they have played at a number of locations off-campus. Played similar to golf, but with frisbees, the premise is to throw the frisbees into a cage basket in the least number of throws.
There are a number of permanent courses around Perth and we have been able to visit one at Curtin University and one on the South Perth foreshore. The beauty of learning this game is that there are no costs to participate and all you need is a frisbee. Students have found it intriguing and can see that, while looking easy and simple to play, it’s a difficult game to master.
