Creativity at the Fore: Make Your Own Storybook Competition 2017

Make Your Own Storybook 2017 001

17 Rehoboth students from Years 1-6, participated in the WA Children’s Book Council Make Your Own Storybook Competition.

Well done to our budding authors and illustrators who all worked very hard to write and illustrate their own book. It has been fabulous to see the en

thusiasm and effort that all of these students put in. The bound books are fabulous, with some entertaining stories and beautiful illustrations. The books are currently on display in the K-6 Library.

This year, a Rehoboth student once again won an award in the competition. Izabella Sastrawidjaja won second place in the Year 3-4 Picture Book category with her beautifully illustrated book, The Vegetable Competition. Congratulations and well done, Izabella!

On 18 August, at the Fremantle Children’s Literature Centre, Izabella was presented with her award. Acclaimed West Australian children’s author, Norman Jorgensen, and Jan Nicolls, President of the WA Children’s Book Council, were on hand to present Izabella with her award.

Apart from Izabella receiving her award it was also wonderful to see all of the other winning entries, to meet Norman Jorgensen, and to hear from some of the young authors.

Along with the other winning entries, Izabella’s book is currently on display in the Perth City Library.
