Celebrating God’s Faithfulness: Highlights from Our 60th Anniversary Assembly

On 13 February, our Secondary community gathered for a memorable 60th Anniversary Thanksgiving Assembly. The morning was filled with rich stories, heartfelt worship, and reflections that reminded us of God’s goodness through every season of Rehoboth’s history.
Today, we’re excited to share those moments with you and honour the many staff, students, and families who contributed to this special celebration.

Time has flown by since our community came together on 13 February for a Thanksgiving 60th Anniversary Assembly, a joyful occasion marked by stories of God’s faithfulness across generations. Three guest speakers blessed us with meaningful reflections on their experiences at Rehoboth, each adding a unique perspective to our shared heritage.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to:

Rob Geijsman – Former Principal and long-time Secondary teacher
Hayley Erispe – Current Head of English and dedicated member of our teaching staff
Samson Van der Kooy – Current Year 12 student

Each speaker lifted our eyes to see God’s enduring goodness. Their stories honoured the past while reminding us of the firm foundation on which Rehoboth continues to stand.

Throughout the assembly, we were blessed with beautiful musical contributions that helped set a tone of worship and reflection.

  • Amy van Zyl, Scott Kuipers, Ann Foster, and the staff band led the community in singing the beloved College Hymn, “Lord for the Years.”
  • Maria Hlatywayo and her brother Joshua de Silva offered a moving duet, “It’s Jesus I Need at the End of the Day.”
  • Our Year 12 Music students guided us in a meaningful time of congregational praise.

These performances were more than musical pieces, they were declarations of gratitude to the One who sustains us.

A highlight of the morning was our special segment, “Peletier’s on the Couch.”
Here, four generations of the Peletier family shared their experiences at Rehoboth, a living testimony to the legacy of Christian education carried from one generation to the next. Their presence captured the heart of our 60-year journey: families rooted in faith, growing together, and investing in the future.

We share this update now to formally thank everyone involved in preparing and presenting this remarkable celebration. From speakers and musicians to staff behind the scenes, your efforts helped create a morning that honoured God and blessed our community.

Above all, we thank God for 60 years of His guidance, provision, and grace. We look forward to the years ahead, trusting Him to continue leading Rehoboth for His glory.
