Celebrating Excellence in 2025 Humanities Competitions

This year, our students once again demonstrated their passion and dedication in the national Humanities competitions, achieving outstanding results across Geography, History, and Economics. Their efforts not only reflect academic excellence but also a genuine enthusiasm for learning and applying their knowledge in meaningful ways.

This year, our students once again showcased their passion, talent, and commitment in the national Humanities competitions, achieving excellent results across Geography, History, and Economics.

In the inaugural ETAWA Economics Challenge, students from Years 7-12 volunteered to participate, testing their economic thinking against real-world scenarios. We are especially proud of our two Year 7 students who progressed to the semi-final elimination round and narrowly missed the podium with outstanding scores of 19/20 and 18/20. The challenge was an enriching experience, and students relished the opportunity to extend themselves and apply their learning in a competitive environment.

In the Australian History Competition, 56 students across Years 7-10 represented the College, with results that placed us above the national average. Among these, 14 students earned Distinctions and 4 students achieved High Distinctions, a testament to the strength of their historical skills and understanding.

The Australian Geography Competition saw our strongest participation yet, with 84 students from Years 7-12 taking part. Once again, our College average exceeded the national benchmark. Highlights included 12 Distinctions, 11 High Distinctions, and three students placing in the top 1% of their respective cohorts. Two of these were Year 7 students, and the third was Phoebe Gong (Year 12), who not only placed in the top 1% but also emerged as the 2025 WA Prize Winner, finishing first in the state.

We are immensely proud of all our students for their hard work and dedication. These results reflect not only academic excellence but also the courage to take on challenges and strive for personal bests. Above all, we give thanks to God for blessing our students with diverse gifts, talents, and opportunities to use their abilities in ways that bring honour to Him.
