We are so grateful towards God and how He has created us with the ability to learn and absorb new information and knowledge each day.
It was a big day of excitement as our Year 1 students in Wilson celebrated their 100th day of school! This was a great opportunity for the students to pause and reflect on all their achievements and milestones in their learning journey throughout the year so far. We started our day with prayer and thanksgiving to God for seeing us through more than half the school year! What a blessing it has been to be a part of this loving school community at Rehoboth.
We had an amazing morning praise and worship as a class, singing some of our class favourites – ‘Deep Cries Out’, ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘I Raise a Hallelujah’. Singing and dancing along to worship songs has always been something the students look forward to each morning as we begin our day at school.
To celebrate this special day, a range of activity stations were set up to align with the theme of One Hundred. The children were given
- 100 popsticks to create imaginative structures
- 100 dominoes to explore with
- 100 paper cups to construct towers
- 100 fruit loops to thread with
- and even creating a 100-piece paper chain!
The classroom was filled with lots of energy, laughter and the students had amazing teamwork!
These activities not only showcased their creativity but encouraged the students to work collaboratively with their peers and to embrace challenges along the way. They learned important lessons of persistence and staying united even when it gets challenging. This reminded us of the Bible verse from Psalm 133:1 – “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity.”
Another favourite activity was our 100-metre race across the oval, where the students participated with great enthusiasm! More than just a race, it was a reminder of the value of perseverance. In the same way, the Bible encourages us to run the race of life with endurance, cheering for one another every step of the way.
Overall, the main highlight of this celebration was a whole-class activity, where the students brainstormed 100 things they have learned so far in year 1. Everyone contributed to this activity by writing a few things and we combined them all into one big poster to review and reflect together. Some of the favourite learning activities included learning about
- Fractions
- Adjectives
- Similes
- Animal facts
- Lots of different Bible stories (even quizzes) from the Old Testament!
As we embark on our learning journey for the remaining school year, we are grateful for the blessings of these first 100 days and the promise of countless more ahead. We are so grateful towards God and how He has created us with the ability to learn and absorb new information and knowledge each day.
