Breaking Records with Run4Bibles!

Despite a moody sky and a gentle breeze, the energy at Mills Park was anything but dull as students from both campuses gathered for the Primary House Cross Country Carnival! With cheers echoing across the course and house colours flying proudly, students didn’t just run but to spread the gospel through Run4Bibles – raising an incredible $14,668.50!

After some questionable weather earlier in the week, an overcast day with the wisp of a breeze welcomed everyone to our Primary House Cross Country Carnival. The event was held on Friday 22 August, once again at Mills Park and its surrounds, providing a variety of terrains over the course. All students in Year 2 to 6 from both Primary campuses arrived, keen to run their best and help to raise some money for Run4Bibles.

This is the largest attended event on our sport calendar, which always makes for a great carnival atmosphere! The students in Years 2 to 4 ran 1.5km and the Years 5 to 6 a total distance of 2km. House pride was definitely on display, with cheers and chants urging all runners across the line.

Students finishing in the top three places qualified to represent the College at the WACSSA Cross Country Carnival later in the term. The Champion and Runner Up for each event were acknowledged for their efforts with medallions.

Building on an impressive total raised for Run4Bibles in 2024, the Rehoboth community dug even deeper to support this amazing event. This year an astounding $14,668.50 was raised – that equates to 2,095 Bibles! These funds will provide South African students with Bibles and biblical resources to help transform their lives in Jesus.

At the conclusion of the carnival, all results were confirmed, and Newton was awarded the perpetual trophy for a second year in a row! Tyndale were not far behind in second place, with Wycliffe just behind them in third.

Thanks to all the staff that assisted with carnival and helping to make it run so smoothly. Year 9 student, Ilse B, did an amazing job of leading each race to show the way, either running or riding a bike – a real feat of endurance! Thank you to Miss Goh for coming down early to help with the setup. Special thanks to Mrs Henderson for her assistance before, during, and after the carnival – outstanding as always.

Finally, thank you to the Rehoboth community for not only supporting the students at the carnival, but also through the very generous donations. It is always a pleasure to run a successful event – how much more so when the funds raised to go to further the Gospel, making a big difference to the lives of those around the world!
