The first full day of Kindy was full of experiences and explorations!
What a blessing it was to hold our annual community Teddy Bears’ Picnic, as the Kindy students begin their exciting new journey into ‘big’ school. The community atmosphere was buzzing! It was lovely to see the conversations and warm, friendly smiles amongst all who were there. The EXTREME heat did not get in the way of everyone having so much fun!
On Wednesday 31 January, the students were asked to bring their favourite teddies to school to enjoy a Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Each family set up their picnic blanket and enjoyed a delicious picnic morning tea while engaging in conversations with each other. It was so exciting greeting all the new Kindys and their loved ones… including their teddies! The students enjoyed seeing their teachers once again, as well as forming some lovely new friendships as they explored the outdoor environment together.
Then, some students stayed behind after the picnic to continue their day in the classroom, while others came back on Friday 2 February for their first full day of Kindy; and “full” it was! There was so much to experience and explore! Together we discovered that the Bible is all about Jesus, sang Praise and Worship songs together with all our hearts, explored the Home Corner, Book Corner, Construction Areas, and did our very first Kindy painting. We squished and moulded playdough into many interesting things, painted our hands which was very tickly, and popped lots of bubbles as they floated through the air.
Being away from our parents for a whole day can be a little daunting at times for some students, but they all did really well. The day was spent investigating the wonderful play equipment both inside and outside as we learnt how to share and take turns with one another.
Thank you all for joining us for our Teddy Bears’ Picnic and we pray that your children enjoyed their very first full day at Kindy. We look forward to a wonderful year ahead, as we partner with you and embark on this exciting learning journey together! Soli Deo Gloria! Glory to God alone!
