Trialling new ideas can bring fresh energy to familiar traditions. This term’s Teachers vs Students basketball showcase did exactly that, creating an exciting and well‑supported lunchtime event that brought the school community together.
On Wednesday 25 March at lunchtime, we trialled an exciting new format for 2026, aligning our staff vs student showcase game with the term’s major inter-school sport. This term, it was basketball, and it did not disappoint.
The Year 12 students came out firing, with Jeremiah and Riley leading the charge. Their strong shooting and aggressive drives to the basket helped the students build momentum early, taking a commanding 9-point lead into halftime.
However, the teachers responded with experience and composure in the second half. Led by Mr Phillips, the staff mounted a steady comeback, tightening their defence and executing offensively when it mattered most.
In a thrilling finish, the teachers edged ahead to claim a narrow 23–21 victory.
It was fantastic to see such a strong crowd of students supporting the game, cheering on their peers and, somewhat controversially, the Year 11s getting behind the teachers!
