We were reminded that while it’s easy to focus on the flaws of government through a lens of cynicism, faith calls us to respond with prayer, gratitude, and hope for those in leadership.
Often when reflecting on the state of our government and bureaucracy more largely, the negative aspects are recalled and ruminated on. From a Christian perspective as it can be easy to see the sin in the world, in the form of corruption, and secularism.
At the governor’s prayer breakfast these judgemental and unproductive thoughts were called out, by a reminder of the democratic values and procedures of our government, and the prosperity of Australia, and replaced with an encouragement to pray for our leaders, and a reminder of the faith and respect of faith that those in power hold. This was done through multiple prays, focussing on the government, business and education. We were blessed to hear the prayers of people who work in these different industries and their heart for God to continue work through these things to birng his name glory.
The biggest highlight of the breakfast was the testimony from Miriam Gluyas about her ongoing service in the salvation army. It was a story of strong sacrifice and continual blessing of others. Miriam spoke with passion about Gods calling on her life and her continued faithful service of the Lord, no matter what situation she found herself in.
