WACSSA Football Carnival

On Friday, 19 June, an enthusiastic horde of talented Football players left Rehoboth bound for the football fields of Ashfield, to compete in the annual WACSSA Football Carnival. Rehoboth entered three teams, a Year 7-8 boys team, under the guidance of Mr Peletier, a Year 9-10 team, with Mr de Bruyn coaching, and Mrs Klomp took on coaching the Year 7-10 girls. We met five other schools there with 16 teams being involved overall.

The weather looked menacing in the morning and rain was predicted, but as the first game started, blue skies could be seen and it turned into a beautiful day, perfect for competition. Students were reminded at the beginning of the day that we are playing sport to glorify God and our conduct on and off the field should reflect this. I’m happy to report that our Rehoboth teams played superbly, not only skill-wise, but with integrity and great sportsmanship.

The Girls team won all 4 of their games to be crowned champions of the Girls division. The Year 8-9 boys lost their final game 1-0 to be awarded Runner-up, and our Year 7-8 boys team came in third place overall. On behalf of the coaches, thank you to all competitors for an awesome day of competition, good behaviour and positive attitude.
