Secondary Interhouse Cross-Country

Secondary Cross Country 2015On Wednesday, 1 July, during Term 2, we held our annual Interhouse Cross-Country event. God blessed us with a lovely cloudy day with no rain (ok, just a little drizzle) which enabled the competitors to enjoy near perfect conditions and for us to have a very successful day.

We began just after recess with the whole school participating, except for Mr Peletier and Mrs James’ classes who were away on their Year 7 trip to Canberra.

All Year 8-12 students had to do a 3km run. Matthew Noblet ran the fastest time of the boys for the day, with a finish time of 14mins 56 seconds, and Luritha Martens coming in quickest for the girls at 17mins and 29 seconds.

The results were as follows:

Year 8 Boys

Matthew Catterall 15.36

Year 8 Girls

Tadiwa Kapatika 22.23

Year 9 Boys

Cameron Strickling 16.42

Year 9 Girls

Rachel Fleming 18.30

Year 10 Boys

Year 11 Girls

Catherine Astell 18.40

Year 12 Boys

Year 12 Girls

Rachel Catterall 20.18

Special mention needs to go to Shamilah Riziki, who finished second in the Year 10 Girls category and displayed an excellent attitude and sportsmanship on the day. Thank you Shamila, your passion and enthusiasm was contagious!

A BIG thank you also to one of our parents, Mrs Trina Catterall, and all the other staff who helped out with officiating on the day. What a fun day, full of physical activity and enjoyed by everyone, and as in all sport competitions, there can only be one winner on the day and that honor on the day went jointly to…

Newton and Wycliffe!
