Grandparents Assembly: Celebrating our Families

Grandparents

“The greatest legacy one can pass on to one’s grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one’s life, but rather a legacy of character and faith.”

Billy Graham

Last week we invited our Grandparents to a special Afternoon Tea and Assembly. We had a wonderful time of fellowship together.

Families are part of God’s design and, as grandparents, we have a wonderful opportunity to speak into the lives of our grandchildren, as we did with our own children. Sharing our faith and how God has worked in our lives is a both a privilege and a responsibility. God is a God of generations and He loves and cares for all His people whether they are young or old.

I pray that all grandparents experience the joy of having these young ones in their lives – make the most of it!

After a lovely Afternoon Tea we heard from a number of the classes as they sang songs of praise and recited special poems. We enjoyed the skit by the Year 6 class as they acted out the story of “Wilfred Gordon McDonald Partridge”, and discovered what memories really are. We loved the Choir’s rendition of “It’s a Lovely Day!” and we sang some of the old favourite hymns that we have been learning this year together.

Thanks to all the staff and students who contributed to make this a very special afternoon and to all of our special grandparents and great-grandparents who attended.
